The functionality of the Big Berkey makes it so versatile that it works for several situations. It’s 2.25 gallon capacity can provide plenty of water for medium-sized families of one to four people, without taking up precious counter or fridge space. This unit fits easily in the kitchen, RV, tiny house or off-grid cabin! The size of the Big Berkey is 21 inches tall and eight and half inches wide.
With the addition of an extra pair of Black Berkey Filters for a total of 4, and the Big Berkey unit can supply up to 16 people with purified drinking water in emergency situations.
Its size and holding capacity make the Big Berkey a highly adaptable unit. It is ideal for medium-sized families of one to four people, and this Berkey filter model is compact enough to easily fit into an RV, tiny house, or cabin.
In emergencies, the Big Berkey system is also large enough to keep over a dozen people hydrated with purified water. Just be sure to use all four filters.
Since the Big Berkey holds 2.25 gallons, it will take about two hours and fifteen minutes for the entire upper chamber to be filtered through to the bottom chamber. Of course, there are some variances, and it may filter faster or slower based on different scenarios.

A step up in size from the Big Berkey. After years of research and customer feedback, it was clear that people who were using Berkey water filter systems were not always delighted with the systems’ output.
At the time, we offered customers who needed to shop for water filter solutions only two models online: the Big Berkey and the Travel Berkey. The customers using these units gave us useful feedback: They said that their water consumption demands were while they had normal-sized families. Due to their unique lifestyles, customers in this group needed to buy a Berkey filter with a larger capacity.
We listened and found that this group used the water from their filter for drinking and used it for things like cooking, pets, plants, and many other various demands.
